Summer camp in Japan as an incentive for children of Yazaki employees

For the first time since the Covid pandemic, Yazaki Corporation has once again invited the children of employees from around the world to its traditional summer camp in Japan. This is a great opportunity to combine a comfortable and unforgettable holiday with international communication.

Therefore, every year, in order to strengthen the relationship between Yazaki employees and promote the development of the future generation, the corporation selected children of employees aged 13-14 and paid for a week-long trip to Japan to Tokyo and Shizuoka. Together with 258 representatives of more than 18 nations, our camp participants had the opportunity to make new friends from almost all over the world, visit the most interesting places in the country, take part in various competitions and games, and learn about the traditions of this extraordinary country.

This year, Kateryna Baklagina (mother - Natalia Baklagina, Head of Talent Development and Management, European Region), Veronika Hryshchuk (father - Serhii Hryshchuk, computer systems engineer) and Amina Letsovych (father - Yosyp Letsovych, Chief Engineer of the project) had the opportunity to attend the camp from 20 to 26 July. "We were very nervous during the interview, but we were the lucky ones to go on such an unforgettable trip," the children share their emotions, "We know that we will remember the experience for the rest of our lives!"

The girls emotionally and excitedly told us about their 6 days in Japan. They recalled visiting interesting places, meeting with President Riku Yazaki and Ukrainian ambassadors, talking to children of employees from different locations of the company, what they tasted, what they brought home as gifts to their families and friends, parties and all kinds of entertainment, telling us about Ukraine and learning about the culture of other countries, exchanging gifts and traditions. Of course, the young people visited Y-City, the world headquarters of Yazaki. But not only there, they had many impressions: they visited the Miraikan (National Museum of Science and Innovation) and Disneyland in Tokyo, Odawara Castle in Kanagawa, and the Atami and Mishima Taisha shrines in Shizuzoka. They met Riku Yazaki at a party at the Yazaki Guesthouse (Ikkyu-so) on the 4th day. The event itself and its idea date back to 1977.

Amina Letsovych: "I liked that we had both official events and free time. It allowed us to make new friends and have fun communicating with teenagers from all over the world. And the most impressive for me was the trip to Disneyland, I remember every detail, every emotion. It's impossible to describe in words!"

Kateryna Baklagina: "I am very pleased that I made a lot of new friends and had the opportunity to see the main office of the company where my mother works. This is a unique opportunity for children of my age to get acquainted with Japanese culture not through the Internet."

Veronika Hryshchuk: "I would like to say to all children:  "Learn English!" Because when you have this opportunity, language will not be a barrier.. This is the best trip of my life, during which we were not allowed to get bored even during the journey!"

The children are sincerely grateful to everyone who helped them to have such an original and impressive summer camp, so they will have something to tell their classmates and friends...
