The Formula Student can be seen as a masterclass of vehicle engineering: Young engineers are tasked with building a formula-style car plus the whole team structure. And then they compete against contestants from around the world to see whose design is the best. Since April, the “Dynamics E.V.” team from the Technical University in Regensburg (OTH) collaborates with Advanced Engineering (AE) from Y-EMEA for future goals: “We are excited to work with highly motivated young talents on the next vehicle rollout, to support with Yazaki technologies and to test our new designs in their car,” says Qui Chau, Innovation Management Supervisor, Y-EMEA.

By cooperating on an upcoming vehicle, this partnership supports  students in gaining valuable practical experience and applying their learned knowledge in a real-world environment. They can use these skills in thesis writing, in various jobs and by participating in vehicle development. Yazaki receives the opportunity to get student workers who already have some automotive experience − or, in other words, to acquire new talents for the company.

The partnership is also about strengthening Yazaki's pre-development activities in Regensburg: Specifically, Innovation Management is focusing on advanced materials, power electronics and cell contacting systems. The Formula Student Team enables the colleagues to test and evaluate new products and components within a highly challenging environment. Yazaki can gain valuable insights into the performance of newly developed products, too.
