Y-EMEA Gains New Production Ground in Egypt
Yazaki Egypt has purchased an area of 67,000 sqm in the Fayoum investment-free zone − dedicated to expanding the production of wire harnesses and electrical systems: On July 24, Ahmed Bedewy (right), Head of Yazaki EDS Egypt, signed an agreement with Ahmed Al-Ansari (left), Governor of Fayoum, to allocate the land for a new future factory (YEG-Y).
Construction of the new factory will begin in October 2023 and is scheduled for completion in December 2024. The investment of around 30 million Euro is expected to generate 3,500 employment opportunities − direct and indirect ones. All the plant’s production is to go abroad, contributing to Yazaki Egypt’s aim of increasing the annual exports to 100 million Euro.
The Egyptian government granted YEG a so-called Golden License for this project back in December 2022. This allows investors to acquire or lease land and start operations without any additional federal approvals.
